The introduction in late 2017 of Telford and Wrekin’s in house Technical Highways Development Team had resulted in highlighting various ground condition issues across the borough in particular the lack of testing companies in the area able to undertake the required testing within the suitable timescales of the contractor.
biT as an emerging consultancy operating as part of Telford and Wrekin Council recognised this need and invested in ground bearing testing equipment used to measure the California bearing ratio determining carriageway construction thickness. The biT Highways department have been supporting Mcphillips on the regeneration of a brownfield site utilising this new equipment, testing carriageway layers using a dynamic cone penetrometer (DCP).
